I, Stephen Johnson created the RSJ-Services.com Web Site, as a service to provide Information about Software and Software Development.
I have been a Software Developer for over 25 years. My first job was writing FORTRAN II, using an operating System designed to test Large Scale Circuit Boards. The Operating System was primitive and didn't even provide a System Clock, Copy or List Utilities, or Logical Record accesses. All disk access was by sector only. In order to use this system, as you would think about programming today, I had to write all of the system Utilities. Since there was no one to ask any questions, or to show me how to do anything, I had to learn on my own. That was probably the best learning activity I have ever had.
I have written in Visual Basic 3.0 through VB 6.0, and Visual Studio .Net (VB, C++, C#) and the .Net Framework. I have written many COM Components in Visual Basic 5 and 6. I also have experience in SQL Server 7.0/ 2000, HTML, XHTML, DHTML, XML, ASP3.0, IIS5, JavaScript, VB Script, and CSS.
I have also written for the IBM S/38 and AS/400 (i-Series) in RPG-III, RPG-400, RPG-IV (ILE RPG), CL, UIM, and C to mention a few.
I have written, efficiently, in more that 25 languages, including two that I have written myself.
- WLGEN: a Point-to-Point Wire List Generator for an Electronics Manufacturing company (Written on the Hewlett Packard 2100 in FORTRAN II, and later for the Datapoint Disk Operating System, in Macro Assembler, then on the DEC VAC in FORTRAN IV).
- DIRTBOL: written in Macro Assembler, as a replacement for Datapoints' Datashare Language (an interpretive language) to speed up processing.
I have been the Advanced Visual Basic Special Interest Group (SIG) Leader for the North Texas PC Users Group for over three years.
This Site is run on a Windows 2000 Server using IIS5, SQL Server 2000 and Active Server Pages 3.0.
